This week our challenge at Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenges

is to use our favourite technique - and mine is definitely paper piecing.

I love the way you can add big details to your image, with little bits of patterned paper!

On this card, I paper pieced the dress, and also the manger , which I popped up for dimension, and added some rafia "straw" under the top layer.

She turned 40 this month, and I already sent her a card,

but when she received a scooter from her DH (just like me!!),

I couldn't resist making her another card!!

She teased me about becoming a "cougar" when I turned 40,

so I had to add the road sign , for payback!!

This was an easy one for me, as I colour on nearly all of the cards I create!

I use Copics for my colouring, and nearly always add some stickles

or Spica pens for some added glitter and shine!

Year of the Dragon

Chinese New Year is coming up, and 2012 is "The Year of the Dragon".

I know a little boy who turns 8 this year, and is a big fan of firefighters,

so thought this Dustin Pike dragon image would make a perfect card for him!

I machine stitched the background panel, paper pierced the image panel,

used a rub on "K" on the hat for the birthday boy's name,

and added glossy accents to the water drops. I also punched black

carstock circles to anchor the buttons!

This week's Sweet 'n Sassy Digi challenge was paper piecing - something I do on many of my cards already!

I coloured this sweet SNSS image with Copics,

paper pieced the stocking and added details with Stickles,

and used a glaze pen for the eyes and nose.

After hand cutting the image out, I popped it up onto the cream panel,

and added some holly stickers and bling on to the corners.

Papers used are a mix of Fancy Pants and Basic Grey,

sentiment was cut from MME paper, and background was embossed

with a Cuttlebug folder. I also machine stitched around the background panel.

I love Eunice and Irving - and this Stamping Bella stamp is super versatile, and can be adapted for any occasion!

Image is coloured with Copics and Stickles, and the image panel is paper pierced. I added some hand cut miseltoe from a scrap of paper in my Christmas stash!

Card base is from a set of MME cards, and all patterned papers are also MME.
Sentiment label is Jillibean soup, pearls are $ store finds, and blue border strip is Bazzill.

My DT time with SNSS began with the Cocoa Mouse challenges, so I had to use this adorable little guy to create my Surprise Birthday card.!

I used one of my favourite SNSS digis, and coloured

it with my usual mix of Copics and Stickles.

Image was cut and matted with Nestabilities, black panel was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, and I pierced a line under the sentiment.

All patterned papers are MME, velvet brad is AC and ribbon is from my stash.

This card was created with one of my favourite Stamping Bella images, which was coloured with Copics, and accented with Stickles and liquid applique (which I covered in glitter and heated with my embossing gun!).

Image was triple matted with Nestabilities.

Pink paper is K&Company, and all blue papers are DCWV.

Light blue panel was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, then swiped with ink to highlight the raised areas.

I created a fun Christmas card with one of our adorable new snowmen digi stamps !

Image was coloured with Copics, accented with Stardust Stickles on the body, black glaze pen on the skates, Prima pearls for eyes and buttons, Flower soft on the pompom, and a paper pieced scarf and hat.

I then hand cut the image out, and popped it up onto the blue mat.

Papers used are a mix of Echo Park (red and white dots) and My Mind's Eye (plaid and light blue).

Blue mat was cut with Nestabilities and black border around it was hand trimmed.

Sentiment was also cut from MME paper, Border punch is Stampin' Up, and snowflakes are from my stash.

I love how this Halloween card turned out!!

This Bugaboo Digi penguin image is one of my favourite "go to" Christmas images!

I coloured the image with Copics and added tons of stardust stickles for a snowy shimmer. I also paper pieced around the edges and inked with a teal blue.

This week's Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Challenge was a colour challenge - red, yellow and purple.

This isn't a combo I would normally combine, but I love the look

of these 3 colours together in my finished card!

Image is a SNSS digi, coloured with Copics and accented with stickles.

The flecked background began as a smudge, which I quickly camouflaged with yet more stickles and a bunch more coloured flecks (made with my Copics)!

Image was cut with Nestabilities, and I used an EK success border punch along a black edge.

I also machine stitched a couple of the panels.

When I turned 40 last year, my friend teased me about becoming a "cougar", so now that she turns 40 this week, I thought it only fitting to welcome her to "Cougar Town"!!!

This black trim looked lacy to me, so that is what I went with!

This was a different card for me to make - no stamped image to colour!

I love this bright and cheery colour combo, and papers are a combo of

Echo Park, MM, and Provo Craft.

Felt butterfly trim (is actually black, but appears brown) ,

and I machine stitched some random circles.

This was a new type of card for me to create - the image is adhered into a window,

and the card base is a tent card. Tutorial for the tent card can be found here.

Paper used was super old "Dirty Laundry" line from KMA.

Image is a Sparkle creations stamp, and I coloured it with Copics,

added glossy accents to the goggles,

and paper pieced the surf board with more of the KMA papers.

This week's Sweet 'n Sassy Digi challenge is to use Green/Orange/Yellow

on your card - a perfect summer combo!

My SNSS image was coloured with Copics, accented with Stickles,

and then cut out, using the "out of the box " technique.

All papers are MME, sentiment is The Greeting Farm,

black scalloped strip is Bazzill, and Glittery brads are Doodlebug.

I machine stitched around 3 of the panels,

and even tried out a stitch I hadn't used before!

I chose to make a masculine card, with darker colours, and this SNSS digi lighthouse image.

I had this snowflake paper on my desk, so decided to make a monochromatic card with it!

This week, the Sweet 'n Sassy Digi challenge is "Bling It On".

This was easy for me, as I LOVE using bling on my cards!

I chose to use a Cookie digi from SNSS, which I coloured with Copics, and then paper pieced the gift.

I also added sparkly stickles on the ribbon.

I used MME patterned paper, and pearlescent cardstock from DCWV(which really shimmers !).

This Pink Cat Studio image is so adorable,and very easy to colour up!

my first time using pink thread to stitch!
